‘LOMO SAPIENS’
In my constant search for good food on my every return visit to el Valle, I am delighted to have been invited to dinner at Lomo Sapiens recently. This is a “must repeat”! Owned and run by a delightful Belgian couple, the location, the view, the surroundings and, most of all the food, ambiance and service at this private dining room are absolutely first-class! A fixed monthly menu is available for a minimum booking of six diners and should not be missed……

Hi Linda
Lomo Sapiens private dining restaurant is just outside of the village of Melegis (towards Talara). There is also a new Thai restaurant now in Restabal. Another good place with exceptional food is La Casita de Papel in Lanjaron http://southfromgranada.com/webads/la-casita-de-papel-lanjaron/
A further selection is in our food & drink page on http://www.southfromgranada.com – we have tried them all and happily recommend
Let me know if we can help further

‘NEW BAR IN SALERES’
The bar in the square in the village of Saleres is a must and still a hidden secret. The Italian woman who runs it provides mouthwatering tapas and cocktails to die for! During the summer months you can sit outside and enjoy the atmosphere unhindered by traffic or smoky atmospheres. She is also bringing an amazing mixture of music to the valley ranging from rock, to the blues and last week a beautiful guitar recital from an outstanding guitar player. Check it out for yourself on Facebook: Club Cultural La Salerosa’. This will also keep you updated on forthcoming musical events. Why not come and see for yourself. Enjoy

I’ll second that! I went there recently when they had a blues band on and have returned several times since – great food and great atmoshphere! Thanks for the FB link – it will help us keep up with what is happening there. I heard from another source that the guitarist you mentioned was excellent; but we will be back again anyway.

‘BODEGA DEL PROJIMO’
Having been fortunate in living overseas most of my life and eating and drinking my way around the world, I always look forward to returning to Granada and the local cuisine and customs (principally, tapas). After a while, however, the tastebuds yearn for a little sophistication and we are fortunate indeed to have Bodega del Projimo in the area. I won’t pick favourites from the tapas or the a la carte menu, suffice to say that there should be something to tickle the palate of all tastes and ages. Excellent food, accompanied by some decent wines and friendly, attentive service, in a contemporary yet local setting. Check it out – you won’t be disappointed!

‘LA BUHARDILLA RESTAURANT, DURCAL’
What a cracking restaurant this is! It offers, in my humble opinion, the best value and the most generous and delicious ‘menu del día’ in the valley. It’s not often that you are offered perfectly cooked tuna steaks as part of the 10 euro deal. The fish on offer is invariably excellent, with a whole dorada or a succulent lubina overlapping the plate. The menu del día is varied and expansive, the wines are good and the restaurant is welcoming. A real gem.

1am here and I am reading about such good food/ wine I may have to get up and go cook something soon but doubt it will be a tuna steak!

However I am just wondering, can anyone recommend anywhere to eat/drink around Restabal?
and any music/ flamenco at the end of august?
Thanks in anticipation

Hi Ann
If you go to our website http://www.southfromgranada.com – on the What’s On page you will find loads of music and flamenco locally in the Lecrin Valley (Local Events) these are updated on a daily basis as soon as the information is received. August is always a busy month with events/fiestas/festivals going on.
Re restaurants – Los Naranjos in Melegis is always good (in Melegis, next village). There is one in Restabal but from my point of view not ideal for the summer months – La Despensa under Bar Jovi.
Again if you look at the ‘Food & Drink’ page you will find some good local places to go to and no doubt will pass others on the way.
Enjoy!
